Church of Anthrax es un álbum colaborativo entre John Cale y el compositor minimalista Terry Riley. El disco salió en febrero de 1971 a través de la disquera CBS. El disco combina los drones y sonidos minimalistas, característicos de Riley con el lado melódico de John Cale, el rock experimental y el free jazz. Church of Anthrax en su mayoría fue improvisado durante su grabación, contó con dos bateristas, Bobby Gregg y Bobby Colomby. Solo la tercera pista, The Soul of Patrick Lee incluye voz, el resto son piezas instrumentales.
